I went out into our warehouse to pull a # 11601 and found that to install this CIPA Custom Towing Mirror, part # 11601, you must first insert the included contoured wedge into the inside of the towing mirror. This wedge is contoured to the back of the existing mirror on your 2002 Ford F-150.
Next, you will slip the towing mirror over your existing mirror, and then you will tighten the included screw knob through the raised hole on the back of the towing mirror and tighten securely.

On the CIPA Custom Towing Mirror, # 10802, you will attach the felt pad with the adhesive on one side, to the wedge. Then, the wedge is installed in the towing mirror by inserting the ends of the wedge into the slots on the inside of the mirror. Now you can slide the bottom edge of the towing mirror on the factory mirror and snap the top edge in place. The last thing to do is to screw the set screw into the towing mirror to hold the mirror in place.

Vibration can be an issue with universal mirrors and clip-on towing mirrors in part because you have one part mounted to another which adds a point of possible movement. There are no aftermarket towing mirrors that have a power fold in feature. They will all be manual folding mirrors including set # KS62135-36G for your 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. There is some foam inside the towing mirror housing for # CTM1600 to protect the factory mirror. The foam should compress when pushing the towing mirror on. The outer edge of the factory mirror should be close to the contour of the towing mirror. It sounds like you may have the hardware off a little. The felt strip of the CIPA Towing Mirror part # CM11301 that you referenced would not permanently attach to the mirror of the vehicle. When you remove the tow mirror from the vehicle the felt would come off of the vehicle as well.
